In 1977 Achaani movie is released by Karaikudi Narayanan. The movie stars Muthuraman and Lakshmi in lead roles. The music of the movie is done by Ilaiyaraaja and featured some excellent tracks and Christian religious tracks. Ilaiyaraja made his first chritian song in this movie Maatha Un Kovilil Mani Deepam which was an instant hit.
